Terms of Use

Last updated: 2 June 2026

In short: FinLex is an educational app for learning finance vocabulary and courses. It is not financial advice. Some content is free; full access requires a FinLex Pro subscription that auto-renews until you cancel. You can cancel anytime in your App Store account settings. Questions? Email info@finlexng.com.

1. Agreement to these Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and FinLex ("FinLex", "we", "us", "our") governing your use of our mobile application and our website at finlexng.com (together, the "Service"). FinLex is operated from Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria.

By creating an account, subscribing, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Who may use FinLex

FinLex is intended for adult learners working in or studying finance. You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country, if higher) to use the Service. By using FinLex you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.

3. Your account

To use most features you create an account using an email and password, or by using Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at info@finlexng.com if you suspect unauthorised use. You may delete your account at any time from within the app.

4. What FinLex provides

FinLex gives you access to finance vocabulary cards, structured courses and lessons, quizzes, progress tracking, streaks, bookmarks, and related learning features. We may add, change, or remove features over time to improve the Service.

5. FinLex Pro subscriptions

FinLex offers a free tier and a paid subscription called FinLex Pro, which unlocks all word cards and all courses. The following terms apply to FinLex Pro.

5.1 Plans and free trial

FinLex Pro is offered on a monthly, quarterly (3-month), or yearly basis. New subscribers may be offered a 7-day free trial. If a free trial is offered and you accept it, you will not be charged during the trial period.

5.2 Auto-renewal

FinLex Pro is an auto-renewing subscription. Unless you cancel, your subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period (monthly, quarterly, or yearly, depending on your plan) and your payment method is charged the then-current price for the next period. If you are on a free trial, the trial automatically converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before it ends.

5.3 Billing

Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price shown to you at the time of purchase. Prices are shown in your local currency where available and may vary by region. We may change subscription prices; any change will apply only to billing periods after we give you notice as required by applicable law and the App Store rules.

5.4 Managing and cancelling

You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID Account Settings → Subscriptions on your device, or via the "Manage Subscription" screen inside FinLex, which links you there. To avoid being charged for the next period, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. When you cancel, you keep Pro access until the end of the period you have already paid for; cancellation stops future renewals.

5.5 Refunds

Purchases are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with the App Store terms. We are generally unable to issue refunds directly. To request a refund, use Apple's process at reportaproblem.apple.com.

6. Educational purpose — not financial advice

FinLex is an educational product. The courses, vocabulary, examples, and other content are intended to help you learn finance concepts and terminology. FinLex does not provide investment advice, financial advice, legal advice, tax advice, accounting advice, or any other professional advice. Nothing in the Service is a recommendation to buy, sell, hold, or trade any financial instrument. Examples are illustrative only. Finance and investment activities involve risk, including loss of capital. You should consult appropriately licensed professionals before acting on anything learned through FinLex. See our full disclaimer.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

8. Intellectual property

The Service and all of its content — including text, course material, vocabulary, design, logos, and software — are owned by FinLex or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own learning. This licence ends if you stop using the Service or breach these Terms. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

9. User content and feedback

If you send us feedback, suggestions, or ideas, you grant us the right to use them without restriction or obligation to you. We welcome feedback and may use it to improve FinLex.

10. Service availability and changes

We aim to keep FinLex available and reliable, but we provide the Service "as is" and do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The Service generally requires an internet connection to sync content and your progress. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. Where a change materially affects paid subscribers, we will give reasonable notice.

11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of content. FinLex, its operators, and its content contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or capital, arising from your use of — or reliance on — the Service or its educational content. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

12. Termination

You may stop using FinLex and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that harms FinLex or other users. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing in these Terms removes any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the laws of your country of residence.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a prominent notice in the app before the change takes effect. The "Last updated" date above shows when these Terms were last revised. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
